At my largest, I weighed 307lbs. Stepping on the scale this morning, I weighed 202.3lbs. Losing 100 pounds in a healthy, manageable way took a lot of patience, dedication, and (most importantly) education.
When I was at my biggest, I knew I needed to get in shape for health reasons. When I was an infant, I had open heart surgery, and having a predisposition to heart disease and being my size was extremely dangerous. I’d be lying if I said that looking good wasn’t also a high priority, but how I looked wouldn’t matter if I wasn’t able to live how I wanted because of health restrictions.
Since working with Andrew, I’ve been able lose fat and increase muscle while gaining knowledge of how to maintain a healthy weight. In the past, I knew I could drop a lot of weight quickly by crash dieting or doing hours of cardio a week, but that weight loss was never permanent. Andrew has helped me create a strong foundation in my overall fitness level, which has stopped my past, habitual attempts of achieving my goals in an unhealthy, temporary way.
Because of the work I’ve done with Andrew, I have been able to do things I was never able to before. When I was 300 pounds, I never imagined I would be able to run road races or go the mall and fit into clothes in every store. Additionally, I never thought I would have the will power or drive to wake up at 8am on a Saturday morning in January to run 3 miles in 8 degree weather. Because of Andrew’s dedication to me as a client and the genuine relationship he has built with me, I feel like I can truly accomplish anything.
I will continue working with Andrew as I work towards increasing my muscle mass and lowering my body fat. I feel healthier and happier since losing all my weight, but will continue to work to be healthier because fitness has now become something I’m very passionate about. Andrew has taught me so many new ways to exercise that I genuinely enjoy the time I spend each day working out. When I was 300lbs, I would have never imagined that I would be where I am now; waking up in the morning looking forward to my workout. Because of the time I’ve spent working with Andrew and the passion for fitness he has shared with me, I can confidently say I will never be at dangerously unhealthy weight again.
